First of all: a fertility treatment should be strictly individualized.
Fertility Treatments which are closer to natural Conception
Ovulation Induction and Intrauterine Insemination can be used only when both fallopian tubes are present and functional and the sperm is quite normal. Since these two types of fertility treatment are very close to natural conception this means that everything should work quite normally. If the tubes are absent or blocked then the sperm can’t meet and fertilize the egg because the fertilization is taking place in the fallopian tubes. If the sperm is severely abnormal it is not able to find and fertilize the egg itself. Ovulation Induction and Intrauterine Insemination are usually indicated for young couples with mild fertility problems. Their success rate is typically lower.
Other Fertility Treatments
IVF and ICSI are the basic fertility treatments used for the majority of problems that can cause infertility. They can be used for mild or severe fertility problems or even for unexplained infertility. The success rate is highly depended on the patient’s age.
Couples have to consult specialized fertility experts in order to determine the best individualized therapy for their case.
