Ovulation Induction (O.I)
Ovulation induction includes monitoring the development and the release of the egg(s) – most known as ovulation – from the ovaries in order to determine which day of the month you are most likely to become pregnant. Usually no drugs are used for ovulation induction, however, a mild stimulation of the ovaries can also take place. When the egg(s) is ready to be released, sexual intercourse is carefully timed to coincide with the time of the ovulation to maximize the chances of conception.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
IUI involves the placing of prepared sperm (from the partner or a sperm donor) high into the cavity of your womb. This insemination is carefully timed to coincide with the time of the egg release to maximize the chance of conception.
IVF and ICSI
IVF and ICSI are the most common fertility treatments. They represent the very same procedure taking place in the laboratory where the egg is being fertilized by the sperm in order to create the embryo. The difference between IVF and ICSI is the technique which is used for the fertilization.
For Intrauterine Insemination and IVF/ICSI treatment donor egg and/or sperm can be used as well.
